Have you ever had a moment where you wish that you could view a picture/video or even a game on a display larger than your phone? Maybe you haven’t, but it’s still something really cool to try it. This tutorial will take you through the basics on how to casts Android screen to PC.
Before we begin, I do want to mention that those of you who are using one of the latest Samsung phones already have this feature built in. All you need to do is go into screen mirror in your quick panel and choose a receiver (such as a Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, etc). Of course, this guide is still useful if you specifically want to set up your computer as a receiver for this media as well.
What You Will Need:
- Mirror Beta
- All Cast Receiver
First, make sure that you have Google Chrome installed on your computer because the All Cast Receiver is a Chrome plugin.
After you install the plugin, you will need to open up the port 53515 in Windows Firewall so that the Mirror Beta app can detect the receiver on your computer. Go to Windows Firewall and add a new inbound rule. First select the option TCP and enter in the port number. Then repeat the process using UDP.
Finally, download the Mirror Beta app on your Android device. When you launch it, it should display the computer that has the receiver running (make sure the phone and computer are on the same WiFi network). Click the connection to begin casting.
Overall, the performance was better than expected. The latency wasn’t that bad, as I was able to stream videos with very little frame drop to my PC. Unfortunately, there is no sound and the window will only maximize to a small square. Gaming worked as well, but there were noticeable frame drops when lots of action was happening on the screen.
