One of the most iconic features of the Galaxy Note 3, is the multi-window feature. It’s extremely cool and makes great use of the abundance of screen real estate. Unfortunately, that’s not a native Android feature. However, with the help of an Xposed Module, you can achieve the floating affect on any android device. Here’s how to get Android floating window display:
What You Will Need:
- A rooted Android Device
- Xposed Installer App
- Halo App(Android 4.2+) or Halo (Android 4.0+) (Courtesy of XDA Forum Member zst123)
Step 1: Installing Xposed Framework
First, download and install the Xposed installer app to your device. Open it up, and choose the framework tab. Then, select the option to Download/Update Framework. It will ask you for superuser permission. After you grant it superuser permission, it will download and install the framework. You must reboot your device.
Step 2: Install Halo Apk
After your device has rebooted, install the Halo Apk posted above.
Step 3: Install XhaloFloatingWindow
Now go inside the Xposed Installer App, and go to the download section.
Look for a module called XhaloFLoatingWindow and download it.
Afterwards, go back to the module section and select the _xHaloFloatingWindow _module to activate it. Again, you will need to reboot.
Step 4: Setting up Halo
Now open up the Halo app, and choose the applications that you want to pin. These apps will remain in your notification tray and will open up in a pop-up window when you select them.
Step 5: Customize Behavior
Finally, you can open the xHaloFloatingWindow module that you downloaded (it will be in your app drawer) and customize the behavior of the floating windows. You can customize where it appears, if it’s movable and much more.
